Only reason I'm not doing it this time is 'cos London's not exotic enough for a man of my cal-eye-ber! :p
Anyway, the Crossfit Games are much better.
I've been doing it for nearly a year now. So what we gonna spend this fiver on then Jo? That's a lot of Pepperamis! :twisted:

WOD
5 rounds for max total reps:
  • 1 minute burpees
    1 minute 10m sprints
    1 minute dumbbell thrusters
    1 minute rest
I managed 30, 26, 26, 24, 28 with 9kg dumbbells

Here's today's sweat angel after assuming the post-WOD position.
You can even see the HRM band imprint. :lol:



Here's my BtW log for the session.
Av. HR=136, max HR = 168.
60 mins worked out to 910 calories burned. Surprisingly quick recovery.
Stitch a button on that, diabetes! 8)

  • Box Jump 40 reps (18" box for me)
    Pull-up (jumping) 40 reps
    Kettlebell Swing 16 kg 40 reps
    Walking Lunge 40 reps
    Knees-to-elbows 40 reps
    Push Press 20 kg 40 reps
    Wall Ball 40 reps
    Burpee 40 reps
    Double Under 40 reps
My time was 32mins 9sec. Here's the BtW log.
60 mins total exercise. Av. HR=138, Max HR=168, calories burned=940.
Prescription was for 50 reps for each set but I scaled to 40 and subbed triple skipping for double-unders.
This post-WOD GRS-5 chocolate protein shake is VERY nice with crushed ice! 8)

    10 sec rest (BtW log)
48 total reps.
950 calories burned.

Great North Run on Sunday - I'm going to do my CrossFit Induction after my legs recover (if my legs recover).

I'm kinda nervous about the whole thing - because although I'm in the aerobic form of my life (40s 5k PB last weekend), and I've got legs like tree trunks, I don't have any upper body strength at all. But then I suppose that it's the same for everyone in the beginning.

Oh yeah, and you'll use a lot less upper body strength than you might imagine.
Proper strength comes from the hips. You'll see what I mean. :twisted:
