last Jan 2014. HbA1c 53, (7.0). Total chol 3.5. Trig 0.9. HDL 1.13. LDl 2.0 ratio 3.1.
Now Sept 2014. Micro albumin 0.4. HbA1c 57. Creat 71.. Total chol 6.0. Trig 1.1. HDL 1.16. LDL 4.3. Ratio 5.2.

Told by nurse figure chol not good and others up. Should not have stopped statins, should go back and see doctor.
Any comments on my figure and advice. Trying to cut carbs.
Many thanks

Looks like if you want to stay of meds.. Then you will positively have to cut the carbs lower..
Do you test yourself at home?

Yes do test , my own meter. My meds are Glipaizide and sitagliptin
Yes need to get more a grip on food. Do exercise regular.
Many thanks for you comment

Sorry, what I meant was if you want to stay off statins...
Lowering the carbs and raising fats worked brilliantly for my hubby.. But he also lost weight too, which would have helped. He not diabetic but had substantial improvements with cholesterol readings..

I take statin for my eye health
I'd google fats and cholesterol and make up your own mind.
your trig went up..lchf brings trigs down and hdl up, and 75% drop their ldl
odds are you will reduce a med or two,
if your pancreas beta cell mass is still there remission is even possible

http://www.dietdoctor.com/lchf it’s a long page and a video
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/lowcarbliving/a/Food-Cravings.htm because carbs don’t give up easy.

Basically, its not the good fats that kill ...they improve cholesterol levels..
Buy the "the big fat surprise book" and you'll realise just what a croc of poo we're all being told....

The nurse is following traditional NHS mantra, which is not evidence-based, that eating fats increases your blood cholesterol. They are only loosely related. Carbs contribute to blood cholesterol and can make the ratio of Good to Bad constituents worse

Thanks Daibell, I think what you are saying is that I should reduce my carbs even more, is that right?

Hi

How much carb are you eating now? And what sort? And when?

It's really good that you are posting, asking for help and obviously so interested in making some changes!

:)

Hi Brunneria
I do not count but try to eat as little as possible but I think I have had a blip in my habits. Not good but I know I have to eat much less in the naughtiest. My weight and BMI is really good.

I think your a1c is your bigger problem than your cholesterol, it has increased.
isn't it's time you got it within normal range?

Thanks for you comment Jack412, I seem to be going through it at the moment, had the flue jab yesterday and sure I have had a immediate reaction to it headaches upset stomach, consequence not getting as good BG reading as I was. And, as you say need to get it under some on control
