My son keeps getting belly ache

My son was diagnosed type 1 in January he's 13 and keeps getting belly aches and spends a long time in the bathroom . I don't no weather to ring the nurses 24 hour number or take him to the doctors in the morning . He's been tested for celiac in January and this was negative but I think this could be the problem ....

Sorry to say you can get a false negative from the blood test...


Type 1 diagnosed 1990
HBa1c current 8.3
Pump and CGM used (animas vibe)
 
Belly aches and toilet can just be ibs.. Doesnt even have to be linked to diabetes.

What has the gastro consultant or gp suggested?

My hospital consultant is fond of saying "not every ailment diabetics get is linked to diabetes". We should expect to get the normal quota of non-diabetes-related illnesses, just like everyone else.

Janine14, what have you done about your sons bellyaches? Like Spiker has said as well, it may not have anything to do with diabetes. If he is worried or stressed about anything this can result in IBS with some people. Years ago when I was aManager with a large supermarket at 18, I got horrendous pains and probs in toilet, but it went as soon as I got to work and then was also ok on my days off from work.

I hope you have been to see GP...or nurse.

If your GP has online bookings, you can generally find that after you have registered to do online bookings with the GP, that you can get better availability to get appts..... You would be unlikely to have to wait until 21st unless the specific GP was on holiday.

Online booking you can generally get appts better, because although the world and his wife shop at Amazon, the nation hasn't yet woken up to the fact of getting appointments and prescriptions online....

Well done you for doing online, sounds like your GP needs to open up more online appointments!!

I hope you get an answer for the bellyaches and the long time in toilet. Has your son had cameras up and down him?
