mydiabetes database

I noticed on another thread a passing reference to mydiabetes database. Is this something every surgery is linked to and if so how can I get access to my results?. My DSN only says things are a bit high or OK or up / down a bit. Her screen is on the far side of her desk and angled so I can't see the figure, only a glimpse of red and amber boxes which was quite worrying last Wednesday on my most recent check up. I consider myself reasonably intelligent (I have an honours degree in a science subject) and not some dozy half wit who needs to be treated in this patronising way. I would like a way of checking my own results and downloading on my own PC if possible so I can keep track of how things are going.

That would be good to find out. At my last review I was just given my hbac1. Full bloods were taken when I left so I've no idea about cholesterol levels.

You should also have been told what your cholesterol and kidney results were, ring the clinic/surgery and ask for them.

They just took a small amount of blood just for hbac1 while I was there, full bloods were taken elsewhere after my clinic appointment. I haven't known my cholesterol for years!

They really should be telling you this Sarah, not sure where 'elsewhere' is but ask them for a full lipid breakdown if your bloods was a fasting test........it's your right to know these things.

Sorry elsewhere was the phlebotomy dept in the hospital. They arnt fasting bloods. I will call on Monday and see what I can find out but I won't have a clue if the results are good or not! I don't even know what a lipid is!
