For the past week, I have not been hungry so have just been eating 2 eggs and some yoghurt per day - blood sugars are mainly 6.2 - usually 5.6 apart from the mornings. My breath smells of aniseed, and not loosing any weight - are the higher sugars due to liver dump? Is this good that it is emptying its stored sugar load?

You might need to check with your nurse or doctor. The blood sugars sound normal but it would help to know when they are done in relation to the meal ( before, and/or 2 hours after are the usual recommended). If blood sugars are normal I do not see how your liver is implicated in anything nefarious but let your doc be the judge of that !!!
Your doctor/nurse can check your blood or urine to see if your body is burning fat and producing ketones. According to British Diabetes Association ketones are the break down products of fat and produce what is often called an acetone breath. Acetone is in nail varnish, Not sure if aniseed fits that description. Best Wishes.
