I have been a type1(LADA)for 20yrs now and quite frankly struggle as readings are erratic.
Over the last few mths have been experiencing nausea and exhaustion.
Has anyone else had this experience and found a solution.

What sort of bgs do you have when you feel like this and have you tested for ketones? Though those symptoms don't have to have anything to do with diabetes both high levels and ketones can cause them.
Are you in contact with your diabetic team?

Note that as a T1 you really do need to be able to test for ketones when your bgs are high. (My consultant got a little upset when I told her that I didn't test for ketones and promptly gave me a meter that tests for both ketones and glucose :)).

When you say you need to check for ketones is this over a certain period of time as I would have thought the odd spike here and there wouldn't necessitate a ketone test , In 46 years of type 1have never had a ketone test other than when I was first diagnosed .

Well, I would tend to agree with you, but I still suspect it might be informative to check both bg and ketones just to see if they are a factor....(You sound just like me when I spoke to my consultant. :)). I wouldn't bother to check ketones for a spike (I'd quickly run out of strips) but I probably would for a spike accompanied by nausea...

Thanks for your reply.
BG is within range but as not been eating a lot on low side. Did check for ketones just in case, 0.2.
Spoken to diabetic team but they say I'm doing everything right.
Going to contact G.P. tomorrow as this has happened before.
I've read that diabetes affect yr digestive system therefore was curious to see if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Sounds like a plan to me. If your bgs and ketones are OK then I'm out of ideas, I'm afraid. Good luck.
