my injections
Nearly three years ago i walked into a coffee table and hit my shin, it was just a cut at first and later turned into a bruise, this bruise has been there for three years! ha, i have seen a dermatologist and he gavee me creams, ointments, and i also had a biopsy, which was the worst experience i have had in my whole 18years of my life! i have recently found out this will not go away. As you can guess i was devastated! being 18 skirts and dresses are my life. im going to a clinic soon for make up to cover it. but in the mean time the make i use isn't very good. i am just wondering if any one has been through this, it often upsets me its jus a circle on my leg which is bright red and i hit it the other day and i just brust into tears! because it is so thin the skin its so painful.
any magic tricks any one has! i will do anything and it is soo upsetting not only do i have to deal with four injections aday i have this on my leg!
any help please.
p.s i have to say i am very lucky mine isnt as bad as the pictures show on google!

well when i went to the doctors about it, three doctors had never seen it in their whole career, i told my diabetic doctor at the time and she said she had seen it once, so she referred me to the dermatologist and he gave me steriod cream and it didnt work he gave me ointments and then sent me for the biopsy and about 6months ago i went for an appointment with him and he told me theres nothing they can do about it. which i dont believe because imsure theres some sort of injection they can give to see if that works and they havent tried that. i brust into tears when i found out and he could see how disstressed i was and nothing. i just dont believe that this is the end. so now i dont know where to go, because its like i have been shut out and told thats it nothing else!

There are people who specialise in cosmetic concealment for scars etc.Unless there is some reason, such as sensitivity to the cosmetics it's worth a try to ask specifically if there is anybody around who could do this for you and teach you how to do it yourself.

oh is this for the cosmetic make up?? i have an appointment for that in just over a week iv been waiiting for at least 8months for this! so im getting excited about it ha. but i just wondered if there was anything anybody had found to get rid of it

thank you very much i will take a look, i think i have had the cream but i heard aboout an injection but i never got the option. so thank you :)

well luckily for me black tights are in at the moment, so im ok there. but as summer comes closer im hoping this make up will cover it well so you cnt notice it

as a young one yes very! i hide it very wel wen i go out. but i can see it. i only put the make up on wen i go out clubing etc. or wear skirts. the make up i use can only be used wen i go out as in the dark you cnt see it at all but in the day its noticable. but i will see how the appointment goes on the 8th and hopefully i will be happy with the result

Hello,

I have Necrobiosis, I was diagnosed 9 years ago but I have had the lesions for around 11 years - it went undiagnosed for ages!! I have two lesions, one on my left shin about 18cm by 4 cm at widest and a small 2cm circle on my right leg. I am not diabetic but I am checked regularly.

I have been treated with steriod injections, oral steroids, light treatments, ciclosporin (nasty side effects - my kidneys started failing), some tetra-something or other steroid creams, silver treatments etc etc, basically I have tried everything over the years, seen all the specialists and no success in reducing the lesions. Two years ago it severly ulcerated and got a staph infection, this took approx 9 months to clear up and for the skin to grow back.

In the last couple of months the bottom of the larger lesion has become inflamed again but the top of the lesion is losing all its colour and the skin seems to be growing back over the edges - dermatologist is quite excited. I have now found that the only thing that really makes any difference is to treat the active areas with dermovate morning and night and just ensuring that it is moisturised keeps it at bay.

I have tried carrying out surveys on the yahoo support group but can not find any link between the people. I am 24 years old and from the logistics I have looked at I seemed to be the youngest person I have found with the condition until now.

It is really tough to deal with but it surprisingly gets easier, a couple of years ago I would never have dared bare my legs without cover up (I got mines from the british red cross). I am now much more comfortable and the legs are out at the first bit of sunshine (I'm from Scotland so got to make the most of it!!). Most people will not even look at it and at the most I get kids asking "wow!!!! What did you do to your leg?" I now just smile and make up some story about skydiving and when I landed a big tree branch tore a chunk out my leg - makes a much better story than its a skin condition. Even the odd adult that asks I just simply say its a scar, no one ever asks any more.

Hope you get on well at the cover up and don't be scared to show it off - make up your own crazy story to tell or you can steal mine - some poeple just say its a burn, I always think now its just on my legs and I am thankful its not worse. Xx

you post really cheered me up haha maybe i should create a crazy story rather than i walked into a coffee table lol mines jus funny lol. yeh im going for the make up on wednesday and i have never been so excited for a hospital appointment in my life and im hoping it wil cover it up so its not noticable i think as long as i can cover it il be fine. but as i see it al the time i hate it! so thank you very much for you response. maybe i should feel special being the youngest you know with the condition lol x

just a word of advise.don't go for a skin graft,as my wife had a birth mark removed about 30 years ago and it did not go too well and she has an ugly scar where it was below her knee at the back.it would have looked fine with the birth mark;but i could not talk her out of it

thank you for the tip, :) i dont actually think they would give me that option, i didnt get many really, only the make up which i get on wednesday so im just looking to the future now and just going to get on with it and hope the make up covers it :) thank you for all your replies i will see how it goes on wednesday! x
