Need help with these results? I am so confused

Hi raychoi you, I am newly diagnosed and have been obsessing as well. In fact after my first Gtt 3 months ago I gave gone and had a whole lot of tests as I was worried I might have LADA given that I am 54 years, female and quiet slim. 180 cm weight 61kg. I also experienced weird stuff like continuous dry mouth at night, tingling in fingers at night and constant low grade headaches so you can imagine my paranoia!! My high glucose levels was picked up in a routine fasting blood test which came back at 7.2. I panicked as this indicated I was diabetic. I immediately went in to melt down and hardly ate any carbs for two weeks prior to my first GTT and came back with a reading of pre 5.9 1 hr 12.8 2 hr 7.8. I knew this was the wrong reading as unlike you who had the sweet drink prior I starved myself of carbs. So 3 months on I did the whole thing again including my hba1c , GAD antibodies, c-peptide and GTT for peace of mind . Results as follows

GTT pre 6.5 1hr 11.1 2hr 9.4 (still pre diabetic but has gone up due to my carb starvation of the 1st reading) . Hbac1 5.7 c-peptide 0.41 GAD normal so although I am not sure what all this means But at least I know I don't have LADA which is a huge relief. I think if you are scared and are still getting weird symptoms I would gave the test for peace of mind. I certainly feel better having done this. I have also upped my exercise routine and although I have cut out all sweets, cakes, white flour and white rice I am not so afraid to eat carbs like brown rice, hi fibre pasta, fruit and whole grain breads etc. I am actually starting to feel heaps better and everyone is saying how well I look. Hope this story brings you some comfort.

I am sorry to hear you are facing similar situation like me. I am worry because nobody seems to take me seriously at the moment. This is especially disgusting when the docs fool me around me by blaming all the wired symptoms to anxity without any proper tests. I am feeling pretty helpless at moment. Well like my doctor perhaps your doctor is not specialised enough to have a thorough understanding of Diabetes. I came to that conclusion pretty early on as mine left me floundering without any real information. I ended up making a couple of phone calls to a Diabetes specialist who was amazing and very sympathetic to my concerns. It was her that recommended the further tests to put my mind at rest. Maybe you should talk to a Diabetes specialist who is not your current doctor. Good luck!

Hi Raychoi, these were tests for Diabetes 1.5 aso known as LADA for latent Autoimmune disease of the adult. I was freaking out because I don't have diabetes in my family, I am thin, have low blood pressure and do exercise and still had all this weird symptons even though I had cut my carbs down for the past 3 months since diagnosis. The GAD test will show if you you have certain antibodies in your system which usually means you have 1.5. I am not an expert on this. I researched this intensively online. I only got my results back yesterday. Anyway I was relieved I don't have these antibodies and my body is still producing enough insulin to be prediabetic. It has given me a much better peace of mind knowing this.

Hi Gocmaster, are you still experiencing numbess in your hand and feets? I still dont know the reason.My doc still think my lower intake of carb, anixty and increase of exerise cause it. I keep mentioning the neuroparhy, but he quicky dismiss it. He just say it is really rare for pre diabetes to causes such symptoms. I am so upset, he refused to do a neuroparhy test on me.
