Need some advice, do I have diabetes?

Hello,

I hope I dont sound like a hypocondriac but could really use some advice.

My grandma has diabetes and I have just been looking on the internet for something completely unrelated.

For the past 3 months I have had recurrent thrush, i use treatment and it comes back 2 weeks later.
Its so frustrating. I have never had this before and have tried different treatments.

I was just looking up for causes etc of this when I came across diabetes and symptoms.

Lately I have also noticed an increased need to go to the toilet, when im at work (8 hour shift) i go around 6 times. Then again when I get home and several times through the evening.

I also always have water with me now. Im always thirsty. for example Im having driving lessons at the moment which last for 1.5 hours and as soon as im back the first thing I do it get a drink.

At work I will have about 2 cups of tea in the morning, after that I always have water. I use a mug at work and i would say I have around 5 cups each day.

And in the evening I get a drink straight away when im home and i would say I have around 5 glasses from getting home until i go to bed.

Is it worth getting tested for diabetes?

I hope I dont sound niave but I really know nothing about the condition.

Hope you can help

You are obviously concerned enough to do some research, so I would say, yes, get tested. You either are or you are not, getting tested will not change that and may provide you with some answers. I think that someone said you can get tested at a chemist, or you can go to your doctors, or buy yourself a testing kit. Good luck, whatever you decide!

Hi.
Welcome to the Forum.

As we tell Members who ask your question. We cannot diagnose you but the symptoms you describe would give rise to concern. It may or may not be Diabetes.

The only way to know for sure is to visit your GP, outline the above, and ask to be tested. Hopefully your GP will oblige.

If you are diagnosed with Diabetes then we can offer you all the help, advice and support you will need.

Definitely worth getting tested for diabetes and I suggest you see your gp at the earliest oppertunity.
