I am really sorry but i need to rant . Yesterday I had my annual check up. I was diagnosed type 2 in oct . I was then introduced to a college. She kept asking me how I felt about my diagnosis . I explained with my family history I knew it was on the cards. She then tried to push 6 hrs of healthy eating training on me. ( I have explained how I have changed my diet, what I cook, books I read and how careful I am with what I eat. I even explained I run 3 times a week ) I was then told I should go out walking . I believe this person was either a counsellor or a shrink . When should I do this. I am up at 4.am each morning so I can go for a run. Then I am at work till 5.30 each night. Between that I am an assistant beaver scout leader and a mum of two children . I wish the nurses and colleges listen. If I sat on my bum all day and didn't keep fit and didn't change my diet fine but I wish some people listen. Thank you . :-)

I remember that when I was diagnosed they kept offering me the services of a shrink. I don't know why they did that but I declined because I like being mad. I also went to see a dietitian who used an analogy of "doggies and bunnies racing round a track". What they have to do with diabetes escapes me. She asked if I needed another appointment but I think I ran away too quickly.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your rant .............you are not alone.

:D:D:D

It's the alternative reality they inhabit . Quite " normal" for them ;)

I remember a poster on the wall of the DAFNE course I attended, showing sugar cubes running headlong in to a toilet. Very surreal :D

Thank you . It makes me feel a lot better knowing that I am not alone and their are people out there who understand . :-)

In my workplace they would call these people 'space cadets'.

Because they are not on the same planet

I think it catches some HCP's on the hop, kind of like the call centre employee scripts they have to follow. You could say that you hill run and regularly do triathlons , but the tick box for " walk more " isn't complete, so they advise more walking

Don't take it personally, because it's not.Just smile and nod, smile and nod ....you then leave in serenity ;)

Or like the Dr who when asked for more test strips says "Why do you need to test more, your numbers are very good, I have patients who would love your numbers, and would be happy to get 8's" the only reason my numbers are good, and I want to be below 8's, is because I test regularly to make sure I stay under 8, der if they had a single brain cell they'd be soooo dangerous.
