needle clipper

i have a needle clipper, after clipping the needle does the plastic bit go in the normal waste or should it still go in the sharps bin?

I was told today at the diabetic clinic that it can be disposed with normal domestic waste because it is a sealed unit.

im not on about the clipper when full, which i was told should go in a sharps bin
but after clipping the needle the remaining plastic part of the needle and cap it came in, does that then go in the normal waste

Personally, I still treat the remaining stub of a pen needle as a sharp, as the needle that goes into the insulin cartridge remains. However, clipping the needle that goes into your body does make the stub less bulky.

Yes, put it all in the sharps bin. Once a needle has been used it is classed as contaminated and clipped or unclipped should be disposed of in your sharps bin.

i thought it may still be clinical waste, and i also thought about the sharp end that goes into the pen, i was just wondering why get a needle clipper when you can just put it back into the cap

but yes, i guess clip the needle and then put just the stub in the sharps bin, and then the cap in the regular waste..

this way i save a little space in the bin, and reduce the risk by having no projecting needle..

ok so thats one thing clear in my head, just every thing else to sort out now
