Well, if a lower setting of the pricker device works for you, it should be possibe to sharpen it and use for another year on a higher setting!

I'm T2 and have to pay for my own glucose testing supplies. I also use a Fastclix device which takes tiny drums holding 6 little lancets. I can change the depth of these, and so use until each one get blunt then dial round to the next one. (But if someone else were to use it, then I would change before and after that use, and clean the base of the Fastclix too.) The drums last me at least 6 months.
It's not the lancets that are expensive though, it 's the ongoing cost of the actual test strips as they can only be used the once.

I also use a Accu Chek Fast Clix as I really don't like handling the normal lancets ( I hate needles) so only change mine when it gets blunt i.e. hurts or if I'm testing someone else, then I change it before I test them and straight after I test them. Not a good idea to share needle of any kind

Being a musician and testing very infrequently as I have got things sorted, mostly, I use a new lancet every time. As they cost so little it seems strange not use them as directed.

Yes - that the main reason I chose mine.
I have always self funded for just the lancets - because I wanted to use a specific one.
One lancet, one test, one needle, one injection.
With respect to this issue, I have a minimal amount of rubbish left over, and would never compromise good, safe, hygienic practice. I do consider, but only when those 3 arms are engaged will I make an alteration.
