- Pasta, sorry to me it's vile, yeuch lol (and full of nasty carbs)
For sure!Truth be told diabetes is going to scrutinized by the govt due to the numbers diagnosed now. We will be targets soon for budget cuts and rationing soon
It wouldn't surprise me if, unless on some type of benefits, our free prescriptions will go within the next few years. Really hope not but diabetes is becoming an epidemic and could end up bankrupting the NHS. The Gov't is putting the groundwork in now, lots of negative publicity.

The thing is, if you believe that conventional diet guidelines (high carb, low fat) are healthy, then you don't believe that anyone following those guidelines will become type 2.
So type 2s can't be eating healthily, and it MUST be their fault.
That thinking seems soooo reasonable, until you realise that its founding principle (high carbs and low fat is good) is total nonsense and is what is CREATING type 2s.
Its tragic. But it is also unavoidable until the Eatwell Plate and high carb diet advice is finally buried - and that is going to take decades...
- also, I'm a type 2, and since sausages, English breakfasts, cream and butter are on my menu, if the public see me eating them in cafés, they are going to think 'fat pig, no wonder she is fat!' When the reality is that this diet is actually making me lose weight.
Election!!!It's to allow public sentiment to build, through ignorance.
So that Gov't can look good and to justify the cuts they want to make.
You just have to remember this in the next election.
After all, there are a lot of Diabetic people in the UK.
Hopefully it'll all implode on the Govt at this time
It's also worth noting that diet-controlled diabetics don't get free prescriptions, while diabetics on medication or insulin get all their prescriptions free, yet people with cancer get only their cancer-related prescriptions free. And diabetics get free eye tests but not free dentistry, although diabetes is known to cause dental problems. Truly arbitrary. It wouldn't surprise me either, but the NHS criteria for free prescriptions has always seemed arbitrary to me. I've been asthmatic since childhood and in the mid 70's could easily have died after one very severe attack. If I don't take my daily medicines I might well end up in hospital yet asthmatics don't get free prescriptions.
Hi eddie 1968Is it me or are the media (mostly right wing entities) painting us Type 2's up as obese, lazy and are always chomping on pizzas and chocolates. The other day when NICE said it was issuing criteria for gastric-band operations all I heard was a wave of negativity on radio call-ins and ignorant presenters who host these shows like LBC breakfast.
All I can say it is rubbing off on me, not bothered though but I know more vulnerable people would be upset by this.
