Nerve damage in the face, type 1.

Hey, I'm a type 1 for about 3 months on Levemir & Novorapid.

I've just got back from holiday, I only had a couple of high spots with my blood sugars, one was 17.4, and 16.0. My levels are usually really good between 4 & 8 all the time.

The past couple of days I can feel the nerves in my nose twitching a few times throughout the day, and it's driving me crazy!

Can diabetes cause nerve damage in the nose?

Thanks!

This could just be what is called a tic,John .It may or may not have something to do with your diabetes, you should check with your doctor if it is worrying you.

Hi

I agree with Sue, probabaly not diabetes complication. Sometimes I get tingling/pins and needles type stuff in my face (around my nose funnily enough) andt his happens when my bg are going up or down. Ive been seen by a neurologist at my insistence , in the earlier days of dx, and she didnt have any concerns

Therefore I just ignore it and know that its ok

I would add that nerve damage usually only occurs after long sustained high bs, not a couple of high readings after a holiday :-)

If you are worried, check with your doctor, though :-)
