Neuropathy: Is your hand lost sense?

Hi everyone with neuropathy,

Are your hands lost of sense also?
 
Interestingly enough I have just had a text to see the diabetes nurse. I doubt I will go unless they ring me and we have a conversation.
I have a back injury and have had for 33 years this year. I have numbness in hands, toes, more my left side as that is my injured side. As my injury was so long ago no medical professional tends to read my notes! (still have problems and still disabled).
I have decided not to go as I get rather fed up being something it due to me being fat, old, etc. I know very well that certain symptoms I have had for a very long period time and it isn't diabetes. I get lots of pins and needles in hands which goes after about 20 mins of being up. Not everything is diabetic neuropathy and could be something else.

Oh ok. Have you managed to stop the progressing? How long have you got it?
 
I've had no neuropathy in my hands. I had very aggravating neuropathy in my feet - couldn't sleep, burning feet, very painful. That has decreased considerably since my BGs came back to normal but I still have a residual tingle sometimes, which is probably permanent damage. However it is not at all painful.

Have you ever test EMG. And when the blood glucose come back to normal, is it stop progressing?
 
No, I've never had an EMG (electromyography) test. The NHS test I've had for foot sensation consists of poking your feet with metal wires, to see if you can feel it.

My neuropathy started around 2015 and became troublesome very quickly. At the time my bg was probably around 44/45 or so. Once my blood glucose returned to normal the pain and burning went away fairly quickly and so far (three years on) hasn't come back. As I've said above, there is a bit of tingling/pins and needles every so often which seems to be permanent, but isn't painful.

I haven't experienced anything but I do have rheumatism in my hands/fingers but I think that's due to my hands being in water etc due to hairdressing, hand transplants needed for me I think :bored:

Yes I have on my finger tips. My hands has same sensations as my foot. I also get blisters on my fingers in different shapes from no where. Doctors don’t know why??
