Neuropathy.

Since yesterday, my left foot has been numb and its tingling, feels like its buzzing at times, it also hurts a little and is very cold.

I would have to assume its neuropathy, but I dont understand why I should have this, my blood sugar is under control, I thought it was only continued high sugars which caused neuropathy?

Its really getting on my nerves now, what is the point in taking medication and low carbing, if I am going to suffer anyway, I might as well stuff my face with chocolate and sweets and eat chips.

Going to see the DN tomorrow and am not leaving there until something is sorted out.

Is there anything that can be done?

Why do you automatically assume that your pain is Neuropathy.......?

It MAY be that you are correct in your thinking but I would never advise anybody to self diagnose. There is Diabetic Neuropathy and then there is just plain old Neuropathy.......Nerve Pain which can have several causes none of which are affected by blood glucose control. The pain can also be connected to many other things......none Diabetes related.

Before you convince yourself that it is all a waste of time see your GP NOT a Nurse and get a proper Diagnosis. Not everything is Diabetes related. there are also several thread on here about all sorts of Neuropathy.......do a search on the forum using the keyword (Neuropathy).

My Neuropathy is simple nerve pain from an injury and is nothing to do with my Diabetes. I have excellent control of Bg levels too. Get it checked out properly and don't always think the worst.... :(

I guess ive just never had anything like this happen before being diagnosed, and have done nothing to cause any problems, its probably just getting me down a bit I suppose because im fed up, Im doing everything possible to protect myself from problems, and if I feel its not working then it gets to me a lot :(

Actually, forgot to mention, I did have this a couple of months ago, went to see my diabetic doctor, and he said I had an infection in the arch of my foot (inside) and gave me a shot of cortisone, but that just made it hurt a lot for about 2 weeks then it got better, BUT at the time my blood sugar wasnt controlled well, so I thought back then it may be neuropathy, that is what spured me onto a low carb diet and taking better control, I assumed this better control is what made it better.

While it MAY be that your low carbing MAY have helped it could also be the case that the infection has returned .......there really is no way we can tell. Assuming things is not a good idea Daz. Go back and see the GP and put your mind at rest please.
