That's a bit curious... Do you know what your HbA1c was, if over 48? Might be able to check online in some app or other, if your GP has such.
Some people who are very, very diabetic have little to no symptoms. Others, who are prediabetic, experience a plethora of them. You never quite know when one gets hit with issues like having to urinate all the time, fatigue, vision issues and whatnot. We're all quite different, and there's no hard and fast rules, save that having high blood glucose for a long time, is generally damaging to your organs over all.
You're basically aiming to keep your blood glucose under 8,5. That's likely not going to work, mind you, but it's a bit of a target to work with. So don't beat yourself up if you go over. I mean, if I don't eat in the morning I might hit a 9 or above by the time it's almost noon, just because my liver thinks I should be higher, and it releases glucose to "help". We don't always have a say in what affects our numbers, so... Targets, nothing more. And you're just starting out, you don't know what you're doing yet, and there's enough to learn before you get a grip on your numbers. It didn't come on overnight, you don't have to fix it in an hour or so either. Okay? Take your time and try to let go of the panic you seem to be feeling... You're in a good place for questions and help, you're not going to have to do this alone.
https://josekalsbeek.blogspot.com/2019/11/the-nutritional-thingy.html this might help a bit understanding what's going on and how you can potentially tackle it, but keep in mind this is one way to do it: not the be-all, end-all.
Hang in there. And keep in the back of your head that you now know what the problem is: things can improve.
