Is it your meter or perhaps your strips that are defective? Or even your technique? When I started testing, in my anxiety I wasted quite a lot of strips by jumping the gun and touching the strip to the blood drop too soon. Have you checked the expiry date on your strips and been careful not to expose them to damp eg by keeping them in a steamy bathroom or leaving the tub open? If you really want a new meter and strips asap, the TEE2+ meter will be a good bet. I use them regularly and new supplies seem to arrive almost instantly.

A tub of 50 TEE2 strips costs £7.75 ex-VAT and there is no reduction for buying in bulk. Their website is not the easiest to negotiate, but they are available and helpful 24/7 freephone.
The Codefree meter is dearer but has cheaper strips, especially if you buy 5 tubs at once with a special code:

In my experience Codefree products are slower to arrive than the TEE2.
Neither meter is available over the counter.
