I agree that seeing the same doctor can help. For about ten years, every time I went to the hospital clinic I saw a new (and usually inexperienced) doctor. That is inexperienced with dealing with diabetes, the type that thinks we are all exactly the same. After the initial questions (Why aren't you on statins ? Why are you on this old-fashioned insulin ? ) and my answers - (Statins caused me short-term memory loss and got me made redundant. I don't get any warning symptoms of a hypo except when I am on animal insulin.) - they generally ran out of ideas and sat and stared at me in disbelief. I have only ever had sensible advice from a consultant who had seen me more than once. I have seen the same doctor at the last three or four hospital visits more recently, but don't find her helpful, so that's no improvement.
Unfortunately, never seeing the same doctor twice is a reflection of the state of the NHS I suspect. It's really frustrating to have to repeat the same explanations again and again -and a total waste of everyone's time, including your own. Then, of course, there's no time to deal with the question you really wanted to ask.
