New: fluctuating fasting levels

I was diagnosed with Type 2 around 10 years ago. At the time I quickly brought my levels down through a combination of oral drugs, diet and exercise.

Every winter my levels have increased slightly. However, I've always been able to bring them back under control by being strict with my diet and exercise, loosing the usual winter extra pounds and generally making an effort to decrease my stress levels.

However, this year, this hasn't worked. Indeed my morning fasting levels are still high for me and fluctuating wildly between 9.0 and 12.5 - sometimes one day after the other with no difference in diet or exercise. I've also doubled my Gliclazide intake (with agreement from my GP) but that hasn't made any difference.

Any ideas on what this might be?
