Hello there,

I hope you are all doing well.

I am new here, I've been diabetic for a little over ten years.

My Ac1 have been good for the last few years until two years ago where I stood at 8 -8.5 (yikes)

Any suggestions on getting it down I am hoping to get it down to 7 or lower by Oct.

Welcome to the forums! Lots of sympathetic listeners here even if we can't help you get your blood sugars down.:)

So, I guess the first questions are
1) what's different between now and a few years ago when your bg level was lower?
2) what's your insulin regime (basal/bolus or pump or ...?)
3) how much testing are you doing and can you get access to a cgm?
4) are you getting any help from your doctor/clinic?

Personally, I've always found that my bg level improves dramatically when I do more testing....

Hello and welcome @t1d08 :)

Personally i’ve managed to lower my HbA1c simply by exercising more, lower carb and using a libre - being able to see trends with my bg levels and act on them and make adjustments where and when means I don’t wait for things to get worse and am in better control, I still have my off days like yesterday when I was hitting 14 most of the day but they are rare. Also get yourself ‘think like a pancreas’ ideal for building your knowledge up.

Hi i haven't got a clue abut T1 but just wanted to say ...Welcome. There are so many T1's in here that i so admire and i'm sure you will get all your answers from them. Just ask Knikki.:)

welcome to the forum... i find keepinga journal of everything helps look for patterns to make adjustments in my insulin routine along with lowering carbs too

To answer your questions I am not sure really,

The first I would say six years of my diabetes, I just somehow even though I really wasn't good at managing it I always got good ac1 numbers from the age of 14-19 my ac1 (ranged 5.5-7). Sometimes I would test only once a day or go without weeks testing.

Sometime after that year 7 of having diabetes just got very hard to manage my numbers became more difficult and things weren't as easy I think I had a really extended honeymoon phase which I am grateful for without a doubt. The reality of diabetes really kicked me in the butt from then till now my ac1 numbers are currently in the (8-8.5)

Currently, I take 30 units of Lantus and 5 units of Humalog and for the last month I've been testing (3-5 times) a day, my numbers are good and to be honest it is more likely for me to experience a low than high, I've really changed my lifestyle (low carb diet) and I've even surprisingly dropped five pounds this month so I am hoping with my next doctors visit in Oct I can get down to at least a 7 or lower.

Yea I am thinking about investing in a libre soon. Exercise is something I've recently started too!

Hello! What’s happening in October? Just curious!

Nothing much just want to get my numbers down
