My test results are usually fine with eating good quality fats, the old don't eat eggs, drastically reduce fats, etc. isn't always in line with more modern research.
We need some fat in our diet, but we do not need carbs.
Total cholesterol isn't the best measure, it's the relationship between LDL and HDL that is important.
Thanks Slowly getting myheart functionback with exercises.
GP/ dietitian then as now say less saturated fats . I understand now it is OK for natural fats but no trans/processed foods .have added hard cheeses . BHF discourages full fat not sure why. My principles are stick to natural foods. Have gone low carb too.
I too needed 3x cardio bypass after nearly 15 yrs of supposedly healthy heart low fat , whole grains, lots of fruit. Penny should have dropped back then, but it did once diagnosed for T2D 2 yrs later and still same food. Testing meals with Blood Glucose as recommended here soon had that switched around and T2D remission.
BHF like every other official body, are bound by NICE guidelines. So until they pull their fingers out and smell the coffee this guff will still be spouted.
After years of GP advised diet, low fat high carb, my heart used to try to escape if I climbed stairs or had to do anything even slightly strenuous.
Five years of low carb and some very naughty fats and my heart is quietly content and my pulse is back to normal.
