New medication

I’ve just been reading a thread (which I can’t find now) in which rosiglitazone was mentioned. I was put on this a few years ago and fortunately I saw in the press that there were concerns about its safety in relation to heart attacks. I had noticed my ankles were swelling since taking it and on looking into it further I found out that the warnings on subsequent medication leaflets were becoming more definite. I told my GP that I wanted to go back on metformin and fortunately he agreed because I found out shortly after that it has been banned. This leads me to ask the questions now : does anyone have any experience of the medication trulicity (dulaglutide) which was recommended for me to take along with my insulin? In the light of my previous experience with rosiglitazone I am very wary because it appears to be fairly new with little long-term testing. It is an injected medication . Answers would be most welcome.

I am type 2 and have been told they would like me to go on trulicity told me it was relatively new and had good results with weight loss and some people can feel sick so i suppose that stops them eating , i just did not like the idea of injecting into my stomach once a week , i was then told well eventually you will go on it as type 2 is a progressive illness, i already take one metformin as stomach want let me take any more and one canagiflozin, but at the moment i have refused and am really trying low carb my last Hba1c was 67 also my weight is 12 stone 8 so i am also trying to loose weight before i go back for blood test

Yes, the Glitazones are best avoided. I know nothing about Trulicity but would always suggest a low-carb diet wherever possible to avoid the need for meds such as Trulicity but there will always bee exceptions and you may already be trying the low-carb diet.
