Hi everyone, and thank you for adding me. I am a 69 year old woman, I've been pre-diabetic for a number of years and have just had borderline reading so awaiting a second confirmation test. Not overweight and relatively active, but know my diet is sugar and carb heavy so going to try a radical diet overhaul. Will have a lot of questions so hope I'm not a pain!!!

You could try the food sub-forum

welcome :) good luck with your dietry changes. tbh i wouldn't go with total radical diet change immediately. rather a couple of wee changes at a time. white to brown bread/smaller portions etc to begin with. your body will likely be used to the higher sugar levels, and bringing them down too quickly can have an effect on focusing on things. that should pass within a relatively short time frame. All carbs all convert to glucose some faste than others with the more complex carbs taking longer to digest wholewheat vs white. a blood glucose monitor can show you some trends of what foods agree with you and which don't.

slow and steady gets you there its a marathon and not a sprint best wishes to the future.

Thanks for the advice. I’m doing loads of research in readiness for the results of my second test next week!

Welcome to the club no one wants to join! This forum saved me from dodgy NHS advice and helped me get my numbers back to normal. Ask away with any questions you have, there’s always members around to help. And remember no question is silly, if you need to know the answer.
