Hi,

I am currently working on a project for my master thesis alongside a medical device company named GlucoWise. They are currently developing a pain-free, non-invasive blood glucose monitor for diabetic patients. Below is a link for a questionnaire about diabetes management as well as the device itself.

A lot more information about the device can be found on the questionnaire and I encourage you to have a good read before answering the questions - this will take 5-8 minutes.

Thank you so much in advance!

The very best of luck with this device. It looks a bit too good to be true but with technology moving forwards, this device if accurate and affordable, will transform bg monitoring.

Hi there,

Many thanks for the positive feedback. Speaking to a number of diabetes patients first hand over the past few months I can say that everyone is excited at the prospect of pain-free monitoring, especially Type1's who monitor 8-10+ a day. The process for the device is moving along swiftly and we hope that clinical testing can begin shortly!

Hi Tom

Is this device measuring blood glucose or interstitial glucose? I have read part of the details but don't understand how you can specifically measure blood glucose when the waves are passing through body tissue. As a user of a Continuous Glucose Monitor which measures interstitial glucose I would be interested to know how you can determine the reading would be from blood glucose and not have the issue of time lag that a CGM has. Apologies if I am missing something. Thanks.

Hi there,

Many thanks for getting in touch. At the moment, as the device is currently going through development, any specific details about the science behind the device are withheld for legal purposes. When released post-trials, all details will be available. I hope you understand. Many thanks

Those who signed up with DRN would have received an invite to fill in an online questionnaire re Glucowise. Look for Dragons Den Glucowise

Its great to have competition in the continuous BG monitoring market, as its benefits us all.

Glucowise today are targeting the non-medical "sports" market, aiming at letting sports people understand their BG's and its impact on their performance. This would not require the product to be certified for full medical use. I'd guess it will take them some time to get medical approval, maybe over a year away (or more).

I've seen reports of a court case underway in the USA where Dexcom appear to be claiming that Glucowise might be using knowledge developed by Dexcom, this could also slow things down too.
