Hi I have just had my insulin regime changed and the basal is Lantus. I used to be on Levemir...has anyone had side effects from Lantus.? Have had a horrible day...!

The only issue I have is that is tends to make my BS go low overnight, the libre often shows in the red overnight.

Aches and pains in joints or muscles, most likely from the Lantus. Not 100% sure of course, but it is a known side effect and the pains disappeared after switching to Tresiba.
One time one of those dreaded 'Lantus lows', where some Lantus hits a small blood vessel making it act like a very quick acting insulin. Happens within half an hour after injecting, very scary. After googling and finding out the cause of this bizarre low I demanded to be switched to another insulin right away.
Happy with Tresiba.

I used glargine based insulins for almost 2-1/2 years trouble free and then started getting horrible pains in my shoulders. Didn't make the association at first though and kept going. Around the 3 year mark I started getting systemic rashes and anaphylaxis and according to the PIL I am the 1 in 10,000 who's affected by this. Switched to Levemir and the shoulder pain has gone and the systemic allergy issues have gone but I'm now getting localised rashes at the my injection sites. Seeing the Endo' this week for a chat so we'll see if he has anything to say.

I used Lantus for over 15 years with a hitch but found in the last year it was lasting the full 24hours so changed to another insulin.

I got aches and pains on lantus. DN was insistent it wasn't lantus but switched me to tresiba - within 3 days I felt loads better. Maybe placebo affect but I wouldn't change back!

Same. Aches, pains and general not right feeling for months when using Lantus. I had suspected the Lantus causing this. Switched to levemir and felt back to normal within a couple of days.
