Hiya, I was told with novorapid by the specialist pump nurse to make changes 2 hours before I wanted it to take affect. In line with your suggestion that's exactly what I've done but 2 hours rather than one hour.
I'm aged 52 and wonder if the menopause also is affecting some BG levels. X

Sorry, I'd forgotten you were on Novorapid.
Menopause, yes it can really affect your blood sugar unfortunately.

‘’I always had to be extra careful if I'd drank wine evening before used to drop basal by 2 units but now need to drop basal by 40% for most of the day.’’

That’s a big drop! I haven’t had a drink since I got my pod, but sure I’ll have one or two over Xmas. The problem with tresiba was you can’t make easy and quick adjustments for drinking more than you planned- I spent 3 hours asleep at less than 2.2mmol after drinking cocktails a few months ago, and the entire next day dropping too low.

Beer is definitely a safer option, but hopefully with a pod I can occasionally have cocktails without risking death lol

I hope you get the lunch time bread thing sussed, sandwiches are too good to live without! What about a follow up bolus like I would do for pizza, when I was using pens? Like I’d wait an hour after the first and then do another 2 or 3 units? Rather than an extended bolus drip feed?

happy Xmas anyway, and happy eating!

That's a good suggestion but novorapid takes a while to kick in. At the drive in movies today for 'Elf'. Wee hot dog lunch, see what happens in a couple of hours x

Thanks hopeful34. The hot dog rolls were quite large and the stall holder told me 42.4 carbs but not sure if correct. After 2 corrections got it back to normal by teatime. Its so strange if I have a salad or crackers or soup at lunchtime I'm fine (similar carbs) bread products at teatime I'm fine. Anyway think I'll give up on lunchtime sandwiches.
Anyway enough of my whinging have a wonderful Christmas

Hey, is it possibly a delayed spike due to fatty content? I’ve already been finding I’m getting a lot of delayed spikes due to the fat content in my meals. Haven’t quite mastered the correct extended bolus technique to handle it, but even an incorrect level of extension has been helping me a lot.

Thanks Stew, I don't think it's fat as low fat bread roll & think hot dogs are low fat. Can't seem to get to the bottom of it. With high fat/high protein I use 60/40 extended bolus for either 1 or 1.5 hours. Sharon B said to start with the 60/40 & it does work for me. Give it a go.
