G'day 'out there'........

I'm here because I was recently 'diagnosed ' as "pre-diabetes". ARRRrrrgggghhh ! ( as well as a few other little anomalies that probably correlate with a 'higher than normal' blood sugar and overweight.... a bit depressing to relate just yet !!! )

Yeah, you got it...... not enough exercise, too many glasses of red wine, ample "good" food. overweight , and a genetic propensity to s few problems that 'may' be related to blood sugar elevation!

Well, I'm 'into' reparation with a vengeance. ( Though I think of the adage ' shutting the gate after the horse has bolted' at this point :) )............ but I've assembled "the Gear" and have been attacking, daily, a regimen that the doctor approves...... and biofeedback data is further encouraging me.

It amazes me how much one can 'change one's bio-system' :)) with a concentrated effort. Geez I hope I can make a substantial 'improvement'. I read where others on the forum have !

As well. I've added an array of supplements to my diet of morning juicing and nightime steamed veges with fish...... and NO alcohol ( got to encourage those Beta cells)---( I could die for a nice shiraz !! )...... and 5 kms daily sweating... to be extended !!!... and some weights.-----I'm into it !!..... Oh, for the record, I've got more years behind me than ahead !! Hehhehheh.

The results are good...... But I won't bore you with the accumulating data.

Just wanted to say that this forum is so good !! The personal data feed and positive encouragement is even better than what 'the doctor ordered'....... So thank you.

....... OK, I'll be just 'off stage' soaking in what you have to say..... and maybe contributing where I can.

.... best wishes,

~ breakie.

Welcome to the forum breakie. I don't think the horse has bolted just yet but he is eyeing he daisies on the other side of the fence. o_O As a pre-diabetic you have every chance of turning this around and it sounds like you are well on your way to success. Please let us know how you are getting along and do contribute. The more the merrier :p

Red wine does not have a significant effect on BG levels although it does add calories.

What are you juicing in the morning? Berries tend to be the best bet.

Good luck!

I agree with @jonbvn. Alcohol isn't that much of a worry for us as it doesn't affect blood sugar or the pancreas to any extent. Be careful with juicing. Veggies are fine but fruit juices aren't other than in very small quantities - just have the real fruit.

I think you should be selective about alcohol - stick to the red wine, that's what I do!

Just to clarify, red wine is fine. Beer is like liquid bread - I have the belly to prove it ;)

Oh...OK. Maybe just a little red wine since you recommend such ! :)) ....... but not just now... My "Quest" is paramount. :))).... Been 'at' my regimen for a month now and the results are encouraging.
For me, red wine will encourage me , too------ to do less !!! Hehhehheh.

Juicing.... let's see--- This morning I juiced a whole beetroot, celery, carrots, zuccini, whole lemon, whole orange, several spinach leaves, a whole apple........ !! (Y'd have to be a giraffe to consume this much fibre, so the juice is a 'go' ! ).... I do eat currants, various nuts and fruits and stuff as well !

Berries..... I have some blackberries and blueberries with Yoghurt and some whey protein .

Later, I'll grind up some sunflower seeds, pepitas, flax seeds... and add some cinnamon and ginger.

And then there are the supplements !!!!........ Y'wanna a list !!! Hahhahhah.

I mentioned this 'last ditch stand' in an earlier post. When co-riding ( to heightened blood sugar levels) problems have shown their heads ( as with some retinal micro-vascular anomalies).... it's time to go out with all guns blazing.

Results are very encouraging..... so I'll keep at it.

And I'll eagerly absorb others' experiences with 'levels of success' on this forum. .

. Thank you to those who replied to my earlier 'intro'...... There's a long path ahead for all of us.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the encouragement. I just wrote in another post some of my 'regimen' and some reasons why.

Basically, the correlation between heightened blood sugar and physical problems, especially vascular, is something I was completely unaware of.. so , now..... I'm 'into' stemming the flow !! :)))
Unfortunately the horse has bolted with some micro-vascular retinal 'discoveries' that are also being treated ( well, 'slowed down'), by an opthalmologist....
. But the bottom line in the "Quest" :)) I'm pursuing.... ( Many trumpets heralding off stage!!) is towards,I hope, the daisies remaining attractive to both the horse and I for quite some time.....
..... The dessicated skeleton at the computer desk ( my avatar.... maybe a bit sick, eh !! ) is something I want to avoid.

The related experiences, advice and encouagement I find on this forum is so excellent. Any further contribution I can make, I'll certainly do...... as for your " the more the merrier "... :))).. Too right ! :))

best regards....
