Hi Bubs,

Sitagliptin was licenced for use in the Uk at the same time as Byetta, but is not widely prescribed. This is largely because of a French research paper in February 2008 that raised some safety concerns and suggested that it was less effective than existing diabetes treatments. You may want to discuss this with your GP, who may not be aware of these concerns. I can PM you further information on the French research if you would like to see it.
