Just purchased a Accu Check Mobile - appears simple.
Problem is my fist HBA1C reading was 6.9 which reduced to 6.1 after 2 months and much weight loss.
The meter registers in Mmol - how can you convert the two?
Why do matters become so difficult?

The meter is measuring your blood glucose levels at that particular point in time in mmol/l
The HbA1c is a measure of your average blood sugar over the past 3 months (very simplistically) which you are reporting as a percentage 6.9% and 6.1%
They are completely different things.

This table can estimate your ave bg level for the past 2-3 months base on a current hba1c reading.

I think the problem we have are the differing measurements - some in Mmol and then dcct

Sorry maybe I misunderstood.. does your meter give you an estimated HbA1c?
HbA1c measurements are usually a percentage the 6.9 and 6.1 are in % whereas in the UK doctors are supposed to use mmol/m which leads to the 25-120 range for HbA1c. The linked to calculator by @millenium above will help you convert the two. A finger prick as I said in mmol/l which does not translate directly in HbA1c terms because it is a different although similar measurement.
