New To Metformin And Feeling Cold !

I took Metformin for the first time yesterday and have noticed I feel cold. I am not sure if this a side effect or due to a change in the weather. I did warm up when the sun came out in the afternoon but this could be the sun or the Metformin wearing off as I am on first week taking 1 tablet at breakfast time.

Any comments guys
 
Hi @nomorechoccy have you a blood testing meter? If so what was your blood glucose level at your cold period?
Metformin doesn't on average cause hypos. In fact this tablet only reduces your levels in a small degree.
Metformin is an excellent appetite depressant and great for insulin resistance once taking the tablet longterm.
I enjoyed metformin's benefits for decades.
Only recently due to new diagnosed IBS I am struggling to continue with it since I now have a sensitive system. I'm very very upset about it too. I've readded 2st+ since stopping it.
Coldness is normally a circulatory symptom. Some get cold when they get a sugar low but because the heart is working harder to supply sugar to the brain my circulatory system is working harder but it can give heat a last need.
I'm only cold when I have a virus or when my thyroid isn't supported medically properly as I have an underactive thyroid.
Have you had your thyroid checked by a blood test with your gp?
 
Watching this with interest as l started Metformin today (1 tab) and experienced the same symptoms of feeling cold and feeling a bit queasy.

Hi bde987. I also took metaformin for the first time yesterday. Although I can't say in all honesty that I noticed any symptoms. But I may not have been paying much attention. It was a day of firsts for me as I also had to take my first statin!!!!
 
when I used metformin I never noticed the coldness at all this is more than likely the fact it was cold. Keep taking it as instructed the building up to 4 a day thing if you feel the same then ask your Dr or Diabetic Nurse, or even ask a pharmacist they will be quicker that waiting got an appointment (this is what I would do)

I've been on Metformin for about 6 weeks now, I haven't experienced the cold symptoms. My dosage is 2 x 2 tabs per day and I have built up from 1 a day to 3 now. Every time I've taken 4 I've had stomach/gut pains following day.
I've had other meds added/changed recently so it is difficult to pin down what is causing what but I'm just hopeful that the blood sugar readings come down , early signs are that they are helping.

I’ve been Metformin for [emoji6] months, I had the usual symptoms at first, memories of arm in plaster and explosive diarrhoea. I’ve noticed that I feel the cold more. I’ll be much more warmly dressed than the people around
me. I also have more trouble walking and exercising involving legs.
