Hello all of you wonderful and inspiring people.
I’m 55 yr old male. Overweight at 107 kg. Admittedly my own fault for being that way. Poor lifestyle over past 4 or 5 years. Personal reasons caused me to really go off the rails food wise and not doing much exercise apart from work which can be at times quite physical. I work nights and have often had complete carb blowouts in the mornings. Bread, cereals and my worst habit is a brew with numerous chocolate biscuits. Not a big drinker just a few red wines on a Sunday. I work 6 nights so Sunday my relax night alcohol treat.
I recently had my yearly check up. Was contacted by GP and Practice Nurse within days of blood test. Fatty liver and a slight rise in Cholesterol and then I was told I was T2 diabetic on the 48 mm score. So only just hit the number. Nurse has given me 6 weeks before next blood test and said that if levels on that next test were 48 or above I would be confirmed T2.
I have for the past two weeks been following a low carb diet. Feel better and lost a few pounds. I also bought the Accu check instant and have been monitoring for past few days. I wonder if anyone can reassure me that these results are ok as the spike after eating isn’t that much.
Day 1 bought test
Random 5.9 to try it.
Evening b4 meal 5.9
2hr later dropped to 4.9 ????
1hr later 5.4.
Day2
B4 breakfast 6.1
+ 2 hrs. 7.7
Evening meal 5.4
+2hrs 5.4
Day 3 today 1/7/23
B4 breakfast 6.0
+2hrs. 6.4.
Sorry for the long intro post. I have read many threads and am determined to get through this for both myself and my concerned family.
