Hello all. New here. I a wondering if there is a quiet part of the forum that deals with both these things? Told abot the hypothyroid 4 weeks ago and the t2 on thursday. Not a good month!! But at least it answers all my questions.
Do many deal with both? Would love to hear how others have managed. Many thanks.

Welcome to the forum @Kentoldlady1. From what I know, hypothyroidism promotes lethargy and general malaise which will have an impact on your type 2 diabetes. Do you have a diabetes educator who can advise of suitable treatment for such a condition? There should be an area of the forum that can advise of effect control measures to assist. Good luck.

You'll probably still be on a low dose of thyroxine, as increasing it too fast can cause unpleasant side effects. I was diagnosed long ago and found that after about 6 months I was feeling more normal, but I was feeling better after just a few days.
The effects of diabetes didn't seem all that bad, but my meter and blood tests at the hospital seem to indicate that six months eating low carb foods has brought things back to normal. I do feel about 20 years younger now.

Thank you both. I don't have anyone to help with either thing at the moment, but am on a waiting list for the t2 food education course.
I have been reading and reading!! Thinking of trying the low carb diet and have already signed up on here. This site has been super helpful.
Tbh I am finding the hypothyroidism far harder to deal with, and I think I have had it for quite some time. I am always so very tired. Everything is an effort. Ilook after my grandchildren whilemy daughter and daughterinlaw work (not all at the same time) and am trying to care for my mum who has dementia. When I am tired I eat. It is very simple because I feel that I am going to drop with tiredness and so I eat instead of dropping.
How did you cope, resurgam? And can I be very rude and ask how old you are? You dont have to answer but I would love to know there is some light at the endof this tunnel.
