( I posted this originally in the Victoza section but there doesn't seem to be much traffic in there )

Hi... I am a new user to Victoza...

I was initially horrified when the doctor told me I needed to inject but heyho...it's no biggie now and I don't dread it at all as it's totally painless and easy to administer.

I wason it a week so far at 0.6ml and on Friday just gone I had my first dose at 1.2ml.
I haven't noticed any side effects so far apart except I don't seem to poo so often or as regular even though I''m definitely not constipated or feeling bloated.
I also haven't experienced any nausea..I must be made of tough stuff :) as I didn't get any reaction when I started on Metformin.
either.

The one thing I was hoping for however was a loss of appetite. Should I be getting a loss of appetite as I was hoping to lose a little weight?
My doctor told me that this medication very often leads to weight loss but is this totally down to a loss of appetite or is there some other witchcraft  involved ?

I'll bump this up for you in the hope someone may help.

thanks... but it appears no-one wants to talk to me.
278 views now....a big disappointment with the forum as I was hoping for a bit more support :?

Don't take it personally colin. It's probably because Victoza isn't a widely prescribed drug so not many of us have much experience with it...

How are you getting on with it?

Sorry about that Colin, the following thread I've found is quite long discussing Victoza and you may find some answers in there, just click on the link:

Ha...thanks no I wont take it personal....you are more than likely right with that view.
I am doing fine with it so far thank you..... I was expecting upset tummy etc but so far everything has been fine. Got to go back to the docs next week to report and get a new prescription. I was dreading being told that I needed to have injections but it's not a problem now I have got used to it. It doesn't hurt and it's a tiny needle with no pain at all.

Hi colin!!Sorry I seemed to have missed this thread somehow-I'm starting Victoza tommorow(0.6 for a week then 1.2 if the side effects are ok) after being on Byetta injections for a month which made me VERY ill and I just couldn't tolerate it,the consultant switched me to Victoza and told me that the side effects aren't as bad and don't last as long on Victoza compared to Byetta so I'm hoping he's right but it's reassuring to see you've taken to the Victoza well and I hoping I will too! I've heard it's good for weight loss too so if you're wanting to drop a few pounds it could be good for you as Byetta isn't as good in clinical trials(If I can find the 'Byetta vs Victoza' study online again I'll try and post a link)

All the best

Thanks for the reply Paul, I was beginning to think I had B.O.
Good luck with the Victoza...I did the same ..0.6 for one week and now I am up to 1.2. I haven't had any negative effects so far but then I seem to have a strong constitution as I didn't get any problems with Metformin either and a lot of people do seem to have issues with that. I gather the weight loss is down to a reduced appetite but I haven't noticed that so far but time will tell as it's still early days. I wish you all the best Paul...I hope it works for you ...many thanks

No problem Colin! :D hope you do well too and we'll have to compare notes on how we're both doing...Fingers crossed and Onwards and upwards!

Hi Colin!! Sadly yes unfortuanately! Struggling to eat anything at the moment,in the mornings I still haven't digested last nights meal and I've ended up bringing it all back up again! The Nausea is constant too but it's early days yet I suppose and I'm hoping it will ease off a bit!!
How's things with you? are your blood levels doing well and have you lost any weight on the drug?

All the Best

Paul

Oh that's a shame that you are not taking it too well but as you say it is early days so I do hope things improve. I am still doing fine with it - I do seem to be feeling less hungry . I didn't think I had lost any weight but got weighed at the docs on Thursday and I had lost a couple of kg's so I was quite pleased. That has inspired me to try and lose some more. I do hope things get better for you too. Good luck Paul - keep me up to date with how things go.
