Yes indeed, your good news has encouraged me! I need encouraging because I am fairly new to all this and since starting to eat lower carb my A1c has dropped, though not as much as I'd like, but my total cholesterol and LDL have gone up (while my trigs have gone down and my HDL, already high, up). I am hoping my cholesterol readings will be better next time. Btw I am 75, 5'9" and 7 stone 11 (the last not on purpose!)my cholesterol reading is now lower too, at 4.8 mmol/L. Some, I know, will find that curious, but facts are facts. I'm 78, and 6' 1" by the way. Anyway, perhaps my news will encourage others.
Delighted you had some encouragement! My first thought is that your weight seems quite reasonable (right word?!) for your height - but I am no expert, just think I am over-cuddly!Yes indeed, your good news has encouraged me! Thank you for your welcome.Hello and welcome to the forum, and the club no one wants to join.
I love the low carb Atkins style regime I use - and the fact that I got lower cholesterol on it after almost two years of the 'cholesterol lowering' diet I was advised would make all the difference to my life expectancy.
Thank you Rachox.Hello and well done!
Thank you Christina.Hi and welcome to the club......great results..
Thanks bulkbiker. Yes, indeed, I appreciate I am but one of many, but it's good to feel that the number is growing. The diabetic expert nurse was both delighted and, dare I say it, somewhat surprised!Great results very well done.
We're probably not that surprised by your results though as quite a few of us have similar ones doing much the same thing.
Thank you guzzler.Welcome and well done on your progress.
Thank you kokhongw - some interesting reading there. For some time I have had my own notions concerning the widespread increase in diabetes. I think my own problems started during the war years when my mother, an excellent cook, somehow, ensured my brother and I never went short on carbs. then going on to catering college and learning the vast range of potato dishes which went with those rich French dishes, plus lots of pastry/sponge deserts. Then into the RAF and availability of three square, cooked, meals a day. Fortunately I played a fair bit of sport, but, even so, when I retired, after 22 years, I was bulging somewhat in my No. 1 uniform! My forbears, in the Scottish Marches, would have lived primarily on lamb and beef, and not a potato in sight! Thanks for sharing your good news.
