Just found this Forum. I have been Type 2 for about 3 years and control on low carb/low GI diet + exercise. I have never been overweight but Thye 2 runs in my family. Not sue if my problem is Insulin resistance rather than anything else. I never go near a doctor except to get an Hb1Ac done every so often but am lucky that I do get prescribed testing strips so I check every morning. Sometimes I will check at other times of the day. If my bs is up exercise lowers it. I started at bs of 6.6 and as long as I am now in the lower 5's in the morning I am happy. The last 3 mornings I have been 4.8 so I must be doing something right!!

Your certainly must be! :) so well done that's a very good morning reading and i'm sure you'll see an improvement on your HBA1C too :)

I have only ever had 2 Hb1Ac's because I don't like going near Doctors. My first was 5.7% - that was well after I started my diet when I found out of their existence and asked for 1one and I had one a few months ago which was 5.8%.
BS this morning was 5.5 - still very acceptable to me!!

Hello, I'm new tonight too, I have been type 2 diabetic for 6 years on diet and oral medication, but recently my bs has gone haywire and I've been getting readings in the mid 20's, I'm starting on insulin on wednesday which is a bit daunting as I'm afraid of needles, apart from that I've had other complications, I've got protein in my urine which means my kidneys aren't coping too well and my eyesight has been affected, I'm going for my retinopathy screening soon to see what the damage is, all in all, I'm not doing too well, I'm just glad I found this site, it has been very helpful to me and has explained a lot in laymans terms that I didn't ask the doctor, thanks everyone for a great site. PS, my last HBA1c was 11.2 and thats coming down.
