Hi my name is Karin, I had the dreaded phone call from The nurse on the 22nd of December. To say it came as a shock was a total understatement. I had my bloods taken to see if I had low iron which had been a problem historically. My iron levels were excellent But I was told I had Type II diabetes.
I have no idea where to start because my BMI is under what it should be and I have been really careful with my diet for the last 18 months, reducing carbs and also increasing fitness.
The nurse said if I hadn’t done less than my blood sugar level would be much higher than it is. It is currently 61
I have an appointment next week to see the nurse and discuss where we go from here. There is so much conflicting information that I have read and I am so keen to know what foods I can and cannot eat.
Could anyone tell me where the best places to buy a monitor/meter to check my bloods at home
Thank you all in anticipation of the help I am going to receive from this forum
