Hi there my name is Pam from the uk I’m Diabetic stage 2 diet control I’m doing ok but finding it hard to stay off all the junk food like sweets chocolates cakes but I’m getting there I’m doing ok any advice or help would really be helpful thanks

I'm just diagnosed as type 2, she thinks I'm managing well by diet and exercise as well.

Sweets and junk food do seem to call our names at times but I find the less I have, the less I want of them.

For me it's now a matter of what I want more, good health and no meds or wild abandonment and health issues and drugs.

What about writing a list of pros and cons of good diet and what you want vs poor choices and consequences?

Hi Pam, and welcome,

It could very well help to find things that feel indulgent, but are quite perfect for blood sugar control. Nice hard cheeses, thick cream/double cream or whatever it's called (here in the Netherlands it'd be "unwhipped cream", more often than not.), olives, pecans, walnuts, macadamia's, pork scratchings and extra dark chocolate, like Lindt 85% and up. (It may take a while to work your way up to 100%, it can be very bitter to an untrained palette.). If you're really having trouble, maybe look up keto fat bombs and keto chocolate cakes, should you enjoy a whirl around the kitchen.

Anyway, good luck!
Jo

I agree with Jo. I’ve been focusing on foods that are indulgent but good for my blood sugar. I eat berries and just today got a pound of the creepy looking white ones that also taste of pineapple. Those are a treat for me. If my sweet cravings get really bad I have a Coke Zero but I have to be careful as I get migraines if I make that a habit.
