Goonergal.I have a doctor rather like yours - fortunately I do not need one and have not seen him since diagnosis almost three years ago.
I was born in York - a gargoyles spit from the minster, 68 years ago.
By eating a low carb diet I have managed to get back to the top end of normal readings for Hba1c, and am feeling a lot better than pre diagnosis.
Hi Tankie, fire away with any questions you have, there’s always someone around to help. Til you get used to the forum, just put your questions in this thread.Hello All.
I am a newbie to the forum, although I have been a type 2 diabetic for 10 years. I am 65yrs old and I live in York. United Kingdom, I am retired. I must admit that I am frightened the way my diabetes is going at the moment and the doctor doesnt seem to want to be bothered. I have looked on the imternet but as you know the more you read the more frightened you get. Can someone please tell me if there is a group on here that I can ask questions and someone listen and put my mind at ease.
Thank You
Goonergal.
Thank you,

Thank You Goonergal. I am going to request that I can go to the Hospital Diabetic Centre as the doctors do not seem to be interested in diabetes at all.Hi @Tankie1rtr
Thanks for sharing your concerns. I must admit that having never taken any meds / insulin for diabetes, I’m not able to offer any insights from personal experience.
The stress and Achilles problems won’t be helping, but it sounds like a review with your doctor or nurse would be in order as you’re experiencing erratic blood sugars which are making you feel unwell. If you haven’t been trying to lose weight but are doing so, that would be another reason to get yourself checked out.
Antje77. Thank you. No I have not tested with a keytone strip, it showed on my blood monitor, 16mmol and underneath that it said 'Keytones' if my blood reading is low, that disappears.Do you mean you've tested with a ketones test strip to check for ketones? Many glucose meters say ketones when your blood glucose is too high, meaning a suggestion to check for ketones, not that you have them. Ketones are tested with different test strips.

Goonergal. Thats a relief, I woke up Tuesday morning feeling off, and i took a reading that was 3.2 but unusual I didnt feel sick on that one. I took a Glucose tablet, felt better then went to sleep, that has helped me to know that 4.5 isnt dangerous, I am still concerned WHY it drops as it does, If it reads 7.0 I am worried about going to bed in case it drops again as it does and i wake up feeling bad or it has dropped so low, that I need to arrest it before i can get to sleep and stop feeling bad. my other concern is why it goes so high, and at what height it becomes dangerous,That sounds like a good idea. For what it’s worth, your blood sugar levels are not dropping dangerously low - 4.5 is a perfectly safe level. If you’re used to higher blood sugar levels it could be that you’re experiencing what’s known as a ‘false hypo’ where your body reacts as if you’re having a hypo as it’s not yet used to running a little lower. That could explain some of the lightheadedness. Unless you’re dropping below that, the glucose tablets may not be necessary.
@Diakat and @Antje77 might have a better idea about that as they use insulin.
