Newbie type 1 and freaking out

Hello and welcome, sorry to hear of your pain and bruising, honestly it will get easier in time. I was also diagnosed at 31, but that was, erm, a few years ago now.

Take care and best wishes RRB

There are lots of people on here who try to meet up. Maybe start a thread see if anyone would like to meet for coffee in public safety first which is no offence meant with that. Your welcome. I found reading famous peoples stories helpful like Nick Jonas t1, Tom hanks and Haley berry have type two Garry hall and beer mixhaels have t1 it goes on but can be helpful or can be unhelpful

I am feeling really tired and ill again today, sugars were 3.2 earlier so i took lucozade and ive checked again after having food an bread etc an its at 3.4. Im gonna take some more lucozade as im all out of gluco tabs after all my recent hypos. Really fed up

Hope it's a little better now? You must be taking too much insulin before meals? How many units did you take for lunch?

Hi. Are you carb-counting yet? This means matching your Rapid to the amount of carbs in the meal rather than having fixed doses. Also your Basal (Levemir) may need to be adjusted which is normal during the first few weeks. Seek advice from the team or come back here if they won't help.

Im not carb counting yet, im on fixed doses but she did say between 4-6 units for lunch, i did 4 units. I will reduce my units before tea to try and bring it up slightly before takin my lantus. Hopefully they will put me on levemir soon. Thanx both

Quick question but does anyone know anything about pancreatitis? I have been up all night in agony with abdominal pain and thats the only thing that seems to be a cause

I know nothing about pancreatitis, but a very HIGH blood sugar can give you abdominal pain. Have you tested again? All that Lucozade might be doing it now!

The pain only lasted that day but i have been having really low readings and the specialist tells me my pancreas must be temporarily kicking in, i got excited an was hoping to stop the injections all together but no such luck. My pancreas wont give sufficient insulin to keep me at normal readings and it could stop workin again tmz or last a year. Strange pancreas. I wonder if ive had it for a few years where my pancreas stops workin coz ive been ill quite a few times throughout the last few years

Yes I must admit it does get your hopes up. I thought of it as well at least I don't have to take so much insulin yet do t know if that helps?

Cezli84 I so understand and was in the same boat as you with the in between T1 and 2. It sucks getting the diagnosis and sucks when people who don't have diabetes give you advice. This place was a great source of learning and reassurance that I wasn't alone. I did cry every few days for the first month. Now in the third month and it is a bit easier but there are still off days and the reassuring thing is everyone gets them.

Hope it balances for you and remember the forums are great.
