Hi @Camelia007 , welcome to the forum.Hello all - just been diagnosed and want to say my mind is overloaded with all the info!! Can someone just recommend a free app or a monitor that helps with it all PLEASE in one place, Week 2 and am so hungry but am doing OK and determined. Just reading some posts on here already makes me feel very positive. Thanks.
Thank you. No treatment just diet change for now. Have cut out red meat, crisps, potatoes, pasta, rice, bread and wine. Portion controlling everything i eat but am eating very little healthy meals and snacks.Hi @Camelia007 , welcome to the forum.
What are you currently doing to treat your diabetes with? Are you on medication?
And why are you hungry, are you eating enough?
Goals are weight loss and sugar reduction. I think i am still shocked by the diagnosis and also my body is getting use to the withdrawal of no red meat, crisps, potatoes, pasta, rice, bread and wine. Eating lots of blueberries, salads and fish which i do enjoy. What are your goals? low carb or calorie deficit?
you must eat enough for needs.
Many of our members have reduced their blood sugar to healthy levels by only watching the carbs, not the calories. And many of those found that they lost weight as well that way, which is much easier to sustain than forcing yourself to go hungry.Goals are weight loss and sugar reduction. Many of us find that those products still make us rise a lot. Do you use a glucose meter before and after meals to see how you react to them?Look for low GI carbs, brown rice, sweet potato whole grains.
oh gosh thanks. Any guidance you can give on a monitor or app?ok, chill.

Bulk meals with above ground veg, gives volume and feel full.
You will feel worse if you crash your metabolism - eat sensible.
Its hard to not react to the shock but you must eat enough to function.
PS don't over do the protein or it will also sugar. bulk on veg.
No because as T2 I try not to get too focused on regular bloods. I also exercise a lot but in general if you hungry and crashing your metabolism is also not the best way forward. Many of us find that those products still make us rise a lot. @Rachox has up to date informations on glucose meters in the UK, she'll post it here when she's next online!oh gosh thanks. Any guidance you can give on a monitor or app?
Blood Glucose Monitor Meter, Diabetes Testing Kit [2020 Upgrade] Blood Sugar Tester with 25 Test Strips and 25 Lancets - for UK Diabetics in mmol/L by Exactive EQoh gosh thanks. Any guidance you can give on a monitor or app?
If I ate that my BGs would spike and stay high for a while. GI has very little impact on my BG - I can't even detect any slowing of absorption. If this works for you, fine, but please remember that we all tend to react differently?ok, chill.

When I started I was recording my food in carb manager app, and my bg in the app that comes with the sensor. Mysgr (mysugr?) does similar I thinkHello all - just been diagnosed and want to say my mind is overloaded with all the info!! Whilst I agree going hungry isn’t the way forward nor does it mean eating the foods you list. Replacing carbs with more veg, meat, fish (fats and proteins) avoids both hunger and high blood glucose. No because as T2 I try not to get too focused on regular bloods.
