Hi all! First post from Type 1 for 36 years with BMI 31.5 Hba1c 8.7 and hectic lifestyle - wouldn't change that but looking for more control!

Did anyone see recent 'Horizon' on metering with peripheral mention of BG sensor used with smartphone?? I've tried to find this via Google with no luck - can anyone help me please!! This sensor and software was actually in use in California so I'm not hopeful of it being available here YET!! But I'd love to know what it is and when it may be available here - all and any help much appreciated!
Many thanks

I saw the programme. The monitor is not inserted in blood vessels but reads glucose from fluids under the skin. So, it's not quite the same thing but you will get bG readings of some sort or the other. They just won't be complete substitute ... as yet! It's bound to happen.

It was the Dexcom g5. It's not out anywhere yet and doesn't have the regulatory approvals - he was wearing a prototype. The G4 is out and available in the Uk. The next G5 version is a software change so data can link to your smartphone. Wonderful isn't it.

Hi, I saw some of this programme, not all. I thought this glucose reader was absolutely brilliant and would just love to have one. The medical doctor who says his machine reads his glucose all day showed just how good it will be - and your readings will stop the eating of high carb foods which will bang the glucose up.!!!! Fantastic.
