I was diagnosed of prediabetics recently. My Fbs after 12hours of fasting was 113mg/dl in April 2020, 109mg/dl in May 2020 and currently (106 mg/dl) for June 2020. I do an hour exercise daily with carbs reduction and eat alot vegetables, carrots and cucumber. However the symptoms are all over me. I have fatigue, thrist, joint pains, anxiety and frequent urination. In view of these obvious sign/symptoms should I start medication immediately because I feel exercise and less carb is not doing enough.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Those numbers don't sound like a major disaster to me..

Do you have any meter test results prior & 2 hours after eating?
What is your diet in general? There are some veg that may not be doing any favours..
You mention "less carb is not doing enough." Your diet, or changes to it is not entirely clear.
It may still need a few more tweaks to suit you?

Have you been offered or recomended medication from your doctor?

I'll tag in @Brunneria @Goonergal @JoKalsbeek @bulkbiker .

Did you have a HbA1c test? If not, you should.

Not 100% on what changes you've made to your diet, so I'm hoping this will help: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ It's everything I wish someone'd told me from the get-go. If you can list a typical day's meals/snacks/drinks for uus, maybe we can help tweak your diet further? Any questions, give a shout, there's always someone about with answers.

Good luck!
Jo

Hi and welcome,

I agree that you probably need an HbA1c
This fasting readings could be a small hike due to dawn phenomenon, or morning stress, or even exercise.

Further testing would help you to discover what is happening before and 2 hours after meals - but you seem quite anxious, and sometimes people find regular home testing raises their anxiety levels, rather than lowering it. Depends on the person and the readings, of course.

you asked about medication. That is between you and your doctor, but I don’t think any doc here in the in the UK would prescribe medication to someone with just those current fasting readings, so you will probably need more testing to give more info.
