Both medications reduce the glucose dumped into your system by your liver, and the tenegliptin ups your insulin production as well. When it comes down to it, your changed diet is having the biggest impact, from what I can see... As it usually does. But I'm sure someone'll come along who's far more knowledgable about these things than I am. But right now... I do firmly believe it's not the pills but your own efforts in diet which are making your current bloodsugars a resounding success. Otherwise I'm thinking the reduction in meds would've had a bigger impact. My own progress was put down to a pinch of gliclazide... My specialist was amazed over how well I responded to that one tiny little pill. Then my GP told me I could stop taking it, and it hadn't made a stupendous difference at all. My change in diet had, and continues to do so. I hope this means to you what it means to me: it is worth the continued effort. And well done!

I agree entirely with @JoKalsbeek that the diet has a significantly greater impact on blood sugar levels than any pill. In my case it didn't seem to matter whether or not I took Metformin but if I had cereal for breakfast then the numbers went through the roof.

This fact caused some misunderstanding in the early days. DN gave me pills, I dieted and got good numbers, DN assumed her pills did it and got job satisfaction. I think there is a greater understanding of the effect of dieting these days.
