Insulin
Hi, Im 29 from Leicester and just been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and have been given insulin to take every morning and evening, along with a rescue pen to use if my premeal blood glucose is above 19 which all makes sense. I am using the Libre app and sensor thing and i tend to spend a lot of time after what i would consider healthy meals(35g-45g carbs, very little sugar) out of range on the sensor which is 27+.

I was only diagnosed a few days ago and it was a lot of information to take in, i know they are going to be reaching out to me soon, but I am just wondering should I be concerned and report it to someone creeping up that high for a few hours at a time?

Thank you in advance for any help on this!

Welcome to the forum @JDHD Have you checked your blood sugar with a finger prick test, as cgm's are only designed to be accurate between 4 and 10?
I know your diabetes team will want to reduce your blood glucose slowly to begin with to avoid complications, and because they don't know initially how much insulin you need, but am puzzled by the instructions to only give rapid acting insulin if your levels are above 19.

I'd definitely contact your team today to update them. In the meantime do you have ketones testing strips for blood?
