Hi there, I’m 42 and have just found out I’m 4 weeks pregnant with my first! Looking for any advice anyone would like to share?! I fell pregnant 8 years ago and miscarried at about 6 weeks. My TYPE 2 wasn’t controlled at all and a likely reason for the miscarriage The last 8 years have been a struggled and a massive amount of denial from me. Anyway over the last 2 years I’ve been on insulin and have finally got my Hba1c down from 14 to 6.2!!! Luckily someone’s looking down on us and we have conceived on the first month of trying! Current doses are 80u Tresiba at night and Fisap as fast acting on a ratio of about 1u to every 2g carbs....so quite a high amount of insulin! I’m also currently trying to lose weight by restricting calories to 1100 and 30-50g carbs a day. The increase in insulin over the last year has made me gain nearly 4 stone in weight and I’ve got to try my hardest to get this off! A self funded Dexcom G6 has been a game changer for me! And support from a great Diabetes Specialist nurse. Your experience and advice would be invaluable to me xxx

Congratulations! Keep working with your nurse and hope all goes well for you all.

Hello @rara77 Congratulations :)

Take your folic acid if you're not already, keep in regular contact with your DSN and just try and relax, you've already done amazing work with your HbA1c so just enjoy your pregnancy :)

Hi I was 42 when I was pregnant with my daughter, that was 18 years ago and she has grown up into a lovely person, healthy and enjoying life. I call this my greatest diabetes moment, ever I am type 1.
Good luck and wishing you all the very best for a trouble free pregnancy and a beautiful healthy baby x
Take care and enjoy every moment :)

Ty, I have been taking folic acid 5mg as prescribed, pregnacare conception, & 5000iu vitamin D, which is due to a lack of vit D pre pregnancy. I’m so please with how far I’ve come, just so scared, nervous and happy!
