next contour maybe faulty

hi all i have type 2 been ok iuse next contour to check. i am type 2 , go gym 2-3 times week walk quitea lot . week or so readings all over the place. this morning checked 2 hors after i got up and all i had was tea . 13.6. wow shocked .had salmon salad lunch apple water. checked 2/hours later was 11. done it again 5 mins later 6.3. could it be the next contour meter. something not right. feel fine. just being diagnosed enlarged prostrate waiting for MRI . could this effect things . i have low carb diet trying to rule things out. been to gp keep diary for a month raeding what eating . thnask for replies

Hmm, have you checked to see whether your test strips are in date? I also get occasional weird readings if I have any contaminants on my hands...
 
just checked strips are in date , only bought them the other day. used to drink flat white coffee dr said stop rule things out . getting on me nerves lol
 
And I love apples but they tend to have a very dramatic effect on my blood sugar. (I eat them anyway as I am T1 and can inject for them :).)
The dawn phenomena (liver helpfully dumps out sugar to help you start the day) can be a cause of higher morning blood sugars for T2s and T1s.

Having said all that, if it's only this last week that your readings have been strange, I'd want to double check the meter. (Though you might have eg an asymptomatic infection which would push levels up.)
