I was diagnosed Type 2 at end of May last year, Can anyone tell me if the Doctors surgery contacts you re annual review or if you make an appointment with the nurse yourself?

Hopefully you have had all the checks you should have since diagnosis.
My brother's practice has changed his annual review to his birthday. I've heard of other practices doing this too.

Have had nothing since diagnoses, saw practice nurse, then eye review, and Expert self management course , but blood glucoseIt will vary between different GP's
Does this mean you haven't have regular checks and appointments over the last 12 months since diagnosis ?
Should say it wasn't too bad, HBA1c was 51, and not on meds, diet controlled only
Great news well done.. think you need your own entry in the success stories area.Just had my first 3 month review after being diagnosed in February. The nurse called me with my results.
When diagnosed my hba1c was 98 and my weight was 96.7 kg with a bmi of 32. So all in all a fat unfit git.
My results today are : hba1c down to 38, my weight is 86.3 kg and my bmi is 29.
Thank all of you on this forum, without the advice and support of you guys I would never have been able to get these results. As you can imagine I’m over the moon
Next steps is to come off metformin and see if I can use my diet only to manage my bg.
All the newbies out there take some advice from the experienced people on this forum. I know we are all different but there are words of wisdom that can build up to how best you look after your self.
HBA1C not checked since June last year
I understood there were NICE guidelines set out for care of diabetic patients. It is pretty bad that all surgeries don't follow them.
The diabetic nurse we see usually tells us when to book our next blood test when we see her for blood results and review .I was diagnosed Type 2 at end of May last year, Can anyone tell me if the Doctors surgery contacts you re annual review or if you make an appointment with the nurse yourself?
