NHS SCOTLAND

We can make appointments - when there are any - and order repeat presciptions; but we can't access test results.

Have you asked at your surgery? They don't tend to advertise this. I only knew by searching our health centre webpage, or I would be none the wiser. We have been able to book appointments on line and repeat prescriptions for a few years now, but the records on line is new this year.

Yes. We have another nurse who takes the blood, and we have a review with the DN later.

I was just thinking, if I had my results already, and no other problems, I would be tempted to give it a miss. Our DN is still pushing low fat yoghurts, carbs and all the things guaranteed to make us worse. I can do without that nonsense.
My last appointment was worth it as she asked, "So you are not following the dieticians advice at all?" If all the people who are doing well don't go to appointments, how will they know that the NHS advice is flawed? They might just assume that metformin tabs are magic beans or something.

That is true. Maybe we can wear them down.

Maybe the information on the Scottish one is not as detailed as the English one as it seems to relate only to diabetes issues. The English one contains information about every disease and illness or injury sustained, including a list of the reasons why you visited a GP and the diagnosis. There will be many people the GP deems unsuitable for reading some of the information as it may contain information they were not fully aware of. We are warned about this on the consent form we sign.
Yeah that's why they called it "My Diabetes My Way":)

nhs scotland have a web site under "my diabetes my way" register and you will have access
to your diabetic readings and results don't know if any other nhs area has this facility or not !
Hi @bigjim19
I am newly diagnosed type 2 and live in Scotland so was happy to come across this link. My first diabetic clinic is this Friday so I will add this to my list things to ask/mention but in the meantime will check out the website.
Thank you! :-)

It really is great, it's good to track your progress from previous results. We often focus too much on HbA1c, although very important, it's also really beneficial to track your cholesterol, eGFR, weight, BP, etc.

just got my login details and checked my details out for the first time now i can keep track of
how im getting along instead of marking things down on a piece of paper and you can personalise
your goals :)

I use the MDMW website here in Scotland, It's really good having your records stored online like that. My usual cycle is to visit the practice nurse every six months to get blood taken for the HBA1C and the cholesterol and other tests, then make an appointment to see my GP a week later to discuss the results. Of course I've seen the results online before seeing the GP. I haven't had the heart yet to tell her this though.....

I've been using it for a year or two now, its great.....

I had to get written permission from my nurse I remember when it was just starting out....

I did have an issue with the way the kidney function test resulted was reported, the eGFR, I thought my kidneys were done....but was just a misunderstanding, all fixed now....lol
