I had bloods done last week at hospital for a hospital clinic appointment this week (now been cancelled as expected). All my diabetes care comes from the hospital, and has done all my life.

Yesterday afternoon I got a text from NHS-No Reply, which read:
Hba1c 46mmol/improved, repeat in 3 months

Went to my drs records and this Nurse (have never met her) had just recorded my results, so have to assume text came from her.

As my last hba1c was also 46 it was factually incorrect anyway, but for some reason I felt judged and upset as well. It felt like a school report. If it had been 53 would she have said 'worse' or ' ' needs improving'! Am I just overreacting?
 
I don’t think you are over reacting. Much as modern tec. has it’s place, I don’t think informing patients of results via text is nice. I had one once saying “you need to book for a repeat blood test”. I went into a flat spin panicking that something was dreadfully wrong. Anyway after some investigation I found it was a lab error in processing my blood! But I was left worrying in the intervening time :(

Well done, for keeping your HbA1C at 46. I would love to get that low. My last one was 55, As for the text, my reaction would be just to be pleased that there will another blood test three months later. My tests seem to be every six months. But it is a shame if the appointment you were looking forward to has been cancelled.
 
I think GP surgeries are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
I used to get frustrated that I had to wait for an appointment to learn the results of my blood test and then be ready for different conversations depending which way the results went. I prefer to know beforehand.
I receive no text but my results are uploaded to the NHS app for me to see. This often requires me to log in multiple times as it is not consistent when the results are published but usual later than I expect.
The results on the app are not well formatted or easy to read but over the years and test I have got used to spotting the number.
There is never a comparison between tests so I am unlikely to be told whether I have improved or not. I just get to know whether there is a concern or not. My latest HBA1C just has the comment "Not consistent with diabetes mellitus" and a number.
 
I also went for my bloods test last week at hospital prior to my telephone consultation this week - now reappointed to just before Christmas.
I can’t see anything on the NHS App and I don’t expect to hear any results unless I ask.
I wonder if I will be needing another HBA1c prior to my new December appointment when it’s just within 3 months away. I normally have them every 6 months.
 
Thanks everyone. I was fine with getting the text (good to know your results asap) but could just have done without the 'improved' comment. I know it's a positive word, but made me feel I had been doing really badly before. I actually got my results 3 days previously on patients know best, so not a surprise.

I think it's also because my eye consultant wants my hba1c lower than the tslim pump target, so am struggling a bit with that.
 
It's used by the hospital to notify you of hospital appointments/cancellations, and more recently i've started getting blood test results on blood taken at hospital.
